The Tuned In Academy

What Makes TIA Different?

What makes TIA different?

Another thing that makes TIA different is not just a commitment to the fundamentals of music, reading, theory, though we are relentlessly committed to teaching these in way that is fun, practical, and that our students will put to use! But we are also to a diverse understanding and appreciation of music.

Many music teachers or studios have little clear direction or plan by way of curriculum and study of music students. All of our teachers have a clear plan and curriculum. All of our faculty share a commitment to best practices in trajectory of reading development and skills, scale knowledge and proficiency, chord knowledge and proficiency, sight reading, ear training, and improvisation. We are not just a handful of individual music teachers. We are a team. We are TIA.

We always welcome repertoire requests from students, students that want to play a specific style or piece of music. And as long as it is doable for where the student is, and it is consistent with our mission and values—we will gladly work with the student on that! But we also carefully select new themes very semester that challenge the students and us as faculty to always be seeking out repertoire that is challenging, unique, and representative of a broad spectrum of music.

In the last year so many students and parents told us how much they enjoyed our Celtic theme, country, and this last summer, The 1970’s! Right now we are working on international music, and I am so looking forward to hearing the fruits of it!
