Students Making Music while they Shelter in Place
While our students are stuck at home trying to stay safer during the shelter in place order we have been encouraging them to record themselves playing or have someone record them. Here are a few that we have received. Great job students!
Practicing with a Groove
A practice idea that I think your kids and you our adult students might enjoy and find as a way to shake things up a little and have fun while working on your scales and your timing, tempo, and feel. Practicing with a groove.
Teaching through Tech during the Covid-19 Shut Down
We are still teaching during the Covid-19 shut down! Harnessing the power of technology so the music, memories, community, and learning can keep going!

Best of South Sound 2019!
The Tuned In Academy was awarded Best Music Instruction, Best of South Sound 2019! It is affirming to us to be voted best in the category of instruction since that is central to our mission, to train students of all ages to create music with excellence and to see its greatest value not in the music itself, but in how it can serve others. Teaching and training students of all ages to make beautiful music is what we are here to do, and we are so thankful to our staff of teachers and admin that all play such a key role in making that possible. And thank you to our students and TIA family that voted!
We Love Homeschoolers
We love homeschool families at TIA. In fact, we are the only academy of music that I know of that has three faculty that have been homeschooled for their entire lives! What is cooler than that? Your child can be mentored by one of three highly capable, qualified, friendly, and fun student or associate faculty that knows what it is like to be a homeschooler!
Welcome Micaiah to the TIA Team!
Micaiah is a skilled and active singer/songwriter working all around the Northwest. Homeschooled for most of her life by her incredible mother, she was able to devote most of her additional time to chasing her dreams and gathering as much musical knowledge as she could. She formed a few bands in high school, performed at Disney Hall through the West Valley Youth Orchestra, won a competition that awarded her studio time with a major musician, and even had a few paying gigs before she was even 16. Micaiah is our newest associate faculty member and is enrolling private students now for violin, guitar, piano, and ukulele.
NFMC Festival 2020!
The NFMC Festivals Program is designed to give Junior (age 18 and younger) and Adult member musicians of all abilities the opportunity to present and receive a yearly evaluation in a non-competitive environment. Participation in NFMC Festivals promotes music study, stimulates interest in the musical literature of both the USA and the world, and encourages each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement. The NFMC Festivals Cup Award Plan and Honor Certificates offer additional incentives to encourage continued participation in NFMC Festivals.
Ongoing Piano Labs with Openings
Are you or do you have a piano student with experience? Looking to learn in a fun, friendly, class environment? We have a handful of ongoing piano labs with space available for students with experience and/or needing retraining.
Winter 2020 Week One is In the Books
What a great first week we had back and a first week of the winter semester at TIA! We launched two new group classes, welcomed several new private students in voice, piano, and trombone, and also moved one step closer to our mission of making excellent music education accessible to all, including those who otherwise couldn’t afford it! We have been able to scholarship a few students over the last few years, but with the help of all of our regular mission partner families this winter, we were able to scholarship one more student in need and offer reduced rate tuition to a few new students.
