We love our adult students! And we totally get that adulting is hard! Especially if you also have kids and a full-time job which many of us do! But we also understand it and we ourselves know how to navigate it! Many of our teachers are also parents with full-time jobs. Practice looks different for everyone. And for those of us that have crazy busy schedules and families that we take care of and feed, practice may look different than what you might have in mind. But even in a crazy busy schedule, practice can still happen and it can still be good! We take what we can get.
For example, SD here is just about to head out to the studio, the little device in his mouth is a tool designed just for brass players in which they can work the oral compression that is one of the most important parts about playing the trumpet. He can do this anytime he’s in the car, and does!
And just like most of our teachers, SD will show up at the studio probably about 20-30 minutes prior to his first lessons and get some important warm-ups and practice routine in!
We have many students that work from home and will have their instrument out. Whether it be a piano or a keyboard, or a guitar or a horn on a stand, and anytime they’re between meetings and they have a few minutes, or somebody’s running late, they can pick up their instrument and get some work done. Practice does not always have to be a 20-30 minute routine. As a matter of fact, you can accomplish a lot in 5 minutes of focused practice on a daily basis.
