Never miss the significance, the benefit, and the NEED that either you, your child, or your teens need from relationships in music lessons! In all honesty, I realize it’s probably one of the last things that most people think about when it comes to music lessons. But that doesn’t make it any less important. I’ve been teaching music for 30 years. I also run two teams of music teachers for two different schools. Relationships are always at the top of my mind! There are so many people just simply struggle or don’t even know how to relate to others in a way that’s respectful, open, communicative, caring. You know, basic human stuff.
A great music teacher will be somebody who you can be yourself with, and they’ll help you become a better self. Is that the main reason that you enroll in private lessons? Probably not. But it’s an incredibly important part of being a human, and there’s something about the ability of music to soften our hearts, open us up, and allow us to relate in that way. We live in a world where these kinds of things are necessary and important, especially right now.
