The Tuned In Academy

Songwriting in Action

A lot of musicians and people that just happen to play an instrument or sing, think that songwriting is as simple as just sitting down and writing out your ideas and creating a song. And certainly you can do that. It’s not to say that those that do that are not writing songs. However, the art of songwriting is definitely a skill and a discipline that can be learned and can be learned to quite well to the point of being able to write all kinds of songs that accomplish the things you want them to accomplish, that are meaningful. And that people enjoy.

We are a very fortunate to have two songwriting teachers that have studied the craft at Berklee College of Music between our academy and our sister school Music 1st, that are extremely experienced and well versed in songwriting, that write regularly, and have had their music streaming on shows. You’ve probably watched. It’s great to see Great little moments like this captured on camera, and I look so forward to hearing their music!

There are so many unique and important elements of songwriting: the purpose of the song, the melody, the harmony (chords), the song structure and format, lyrics, verse development (how each new verse colors the chorus differently), rhyme, and so much more! Looking to learn the craft of songwriting? Jenna and Caleb are here for you in Olympia!
