The Tuned In Academy

Conservatory quality private voice lessons at Tuned In are designed to give you the best overall instruction you need. We are here to prepare you for what it is that you want to be musically. If you just want to have a lot of fun and sing the music you want to sing, and  learn how do it better, we can help you do that. We prefer the term voice lessons to singing lessons because we won’t just teach you how to sing, we will teach you how to understand and utilize your voice as the instrument it is. We will discuss and teach you however about how to look at the music a little more carefully because we believe that music is never just music. Music has meaning, and as musicians, we should all seek to appreciate that better.

If you want to learn how to be prepared for the rigorous auditions of the military bands, scholarship committees, or conservatories—we can do that too.  The purpose behind private lessons is for you to have regular one-on-one personalized instruction, just for you, according to your needs. Private lessons are just $90 monthly for a half hour (weekly) lesson.

Private Lessons in Voice with Jenna

Jenna began her musical journey at age five studying piano. By age eleven, she began studying voice. Soon after, she picked up the flute, trumpet, and guitar. Throughout her high school years, Jenna took every opportunity to perform in plays, musicals, clubs, restaurants, and with the American Music Abroad throughout Europe. In her senior year of high school, Jenna was accepted into the Harrisburg Arts Magnet School. It was at HAMS that she had the opportunity to study in depth the art of Musical Theatre, which would become a passion of hers.

Jenna also studied at Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) where she studied both performance and songwriting with an emphasis in voice. At Berklee she studied with renowned musicians and performers, including Livingston Taylor, Pat Pattison, John Aldrich, and Larry Watson. Jenna taught elementary music and choir at Christian Faith School in Seattle, and has taught privately for nearly twenty years.

Jenna teaches our Vocal Lab, Piano/Keyboard for Vocalists, Songwriting, and a limited number of private piano and vocal lessons (children and adults) as she is currently devoting most of her time to caring for her young sons, serving TIA as founder/co-director, and writing/recording music for film, television, and advertising.  You can hear some of her latest work here.

Private Voice Lessons with Jimmie

Jimmie Myers, TIA FacultyJimmie has been a musician his entire life. He likes to play all kinds of instruments but his primary instruments are trumpet, voice, guitar, bass, and drums. Jimmie started music with singing in the church choir and piano lessons early in elementary school. In fourth grade, he chose to play the trumpet after watching his older brother learning to play before him. He has played bass and guitar in worship bands at his home church in La Canada California while playing those instruments in heavy metal bands; an interesting dichotomy.

Jimmie holds a Bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance from San Diego State University and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the Longy School of Music of Bard College. Jimmie has performed with the performed with the San Fernando Symphony and served as the music director for the Crescenta Valley Adventist School and La Canada High School. Outside of music, Jimmie loves spending time with his wife and two children and climbing mountains.

If you would like to sing country, folk, blues, or rock, Jimmie may be a great fit for you!
