Consistency and Excellence

At TIA we provide consistency across the board from lessons with one faculty member or a class with one, to the other. In other words, whether you are beginning piano, ukulele, guitar, trumpet, drums, or voice with one of our regular faculty members or an associate faculty member, you can be sure that you will get the same quality of instruction.

Why Academy?

Why academy? What makes TIA an academy and how is that different from a

music store that teaches lessons, a private lesson studio, or any other similar kind of

place.

Should my child take the summer off?

Does TIA take the Summers Off? Should my child take the summer off from music lessons or classes? We do not recommend students and families take the summer off from practice, from classes, or from lessons. Whether you are with TIA or your children are studying music elsewhere, summer is not the time to put […]

Why TIA? Part 3

Public and Private School Students In this post I will continue answering the question, why TIA, in regards to public and private school students. See post one and two here. Is My Child too Young for Music Lessons?

Values Driven Teaching

I wanted to share something that I was excited to share with our advisory board in training a week or so ago, and with Shelly Metzger today in an interview for Thurston Talk. At TIA we are mission and values driven. We value children and we value people. This should be a given in any […]

Dream Shaping

I’ve been called a dreamer. I was a dreamer when I was young and I still am today. And we love it that when our students are dreamers! I’m sure some of you have heard what I like to call dream killers. They usually say things like, are you sure that’s realistic (is a dream […]

Basements, Garages, and People

We are more concerned with identity than image. What does that mean? It is simple really. We know who we are. We know what we are here to do. And a part of that is to help people find opportunity for expression, fun, and community through music and art. What we do matters more than […]

What makes us different? Friendship and Community among Faculty

As an academy, our faculty and staff are not just co-workers or partners in our non-profit; we are friends. This is significant to us because we believe we will serve you and the community better because we enjoy the company of our friends, we enjoy mutual accountability, and we challenge each other to be the […]

What Makes us Different? Friendship and Community

Meeting so many wonderful families at  The Lacey Spring Fun Fair this weekend was a great opportunity to find out what parents and students are looking for, and what they most want to know about an academy like ours. A common question I encountered was: what makes us different? This is an important question! Our […]
