The Tuned In Academy

Burien Piano LabHomeschooling was on the rise even before Covid for various reasons. Countless families choose to homeschool their children for matters of worldview, religion, faith, educational philosophy, and even schedule choices. Even more make the choice now due to various issues surrounding Covid, Covid protection measures, and government mandates. We totally respect whatever reasons you choose to homeschool. In fact, our director and co-director homeschooled their two girls all the way through high school and we have multiple faculty members that were homeschooled as well, including one of our Olympia student faculty who is still in school as a homeschooler in Olympia.

The tragic reality is however, most homeschoolers, if they do get music education, get it from sweet Aunt B or someone on their street, and they may be sweet and may even be able to play, but they are generally not formally trained and not passionately devoted to a serious musical education and development of the musician and the person. We are commited to both. Of course, for our faculty as well, it runs so much deeper than music; it’s a mission!

In the Seattle Burien area alone, there are probably upwards of 5,000 homeschool families. Easily over 3,000 are at least active on Homeschoolers Haven of Burien, Seattle Homeschoolers, and other FB groups. It is our hope that if you are a homeschool family, you will make music a priority and give us a call. We will gladly put together small group piano labs (small group classes for beginners) with just a few similar age students, or of course, we are happy to teach your children privately as well, but the small group lab is our most affordable way to go—and they are a ton of fun and great for making friends!
