TIA is your go to source for piano lessons in the greater South Puget Sound, Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater area. Why not enroll with the best (Best Children’s Art Program 2019)? With NINE unique musician-educators on faculty as piano teachers, SIX conservatory trained and three associate or student faculty, each with different backgrounds and wheelhouses, we can meet your piano needs here at TIA.
At TIA we teach piano in at least four different delivery methods: Private lessons, Group classes, Family lessons, and of course, virtual lessons as well. We have hundreds of piano students right here in the South Sound. We have virtual piano students in Olympia, Yelm, New York, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and even Germany!
In private piano lessons students are one-on-one with their teacher in a mentor model kind of situation. These lessons are fun, casual, interactive, and paced to the needs of the student. Most of our students will work out of a curriculum each week in lessons appropriate to where they are, whether beginner, intermediate, and maybe even advanced. Private students will also work with their teacher on learning new repertoire regularly. We have a different theme every semester so students that choose to will have exposure to and an opportunity to learn a variety of repertoire and genre.
Most of our private students take part regularly in presentation opportunities for our students to perform music in front of their peers and the community every semester. We have fun events like Celebration of Scales, Festival, and we are also involved in Arts Walk and other community music making (at the Olympia Senior Center and area retirement homes).
All of our private students will also engage in serious music theory learning to include understanding chords, scales, and rhythmic interpretation in a way that is fun, accessible, and makes music even more fun and beautiful.
The purpose behind private lessons in piano at TIA is for you to have regular one-on-one personalized instruction, just for you, according to your needs. Private lessons in piano are just $110 monthly with master faculty (for a half hour weekly), $100 with regular faculty, or $95 monthly with our student or associate faculty. Making music in a group is a lot of fun, and it is super affordable (just $70 monthly for weekly half hour small group masterclasses)! In our small group piano classes students learn together with peers, this can be a great way to learn for students that like to be around others. It can also be a healthy motivator to see and hear the growth of your peers. Students work together through a curriculum each week appropriate to where they are, whether beginner, intermediate, and maybe even advanced. Most classes begin playing music together even in multiple parts, from early on.

Group classes also enable us to offer a lower tuition price point for an affordable option. Piano labs are just $70 monthly. We generally offer new classes each semester. Sometimes we have students that can’t get to our studio due to schedule or proximity, or maybe due to health concerns, or perhaps the live in another state or even country.
We have many homeschool families that just enjoy the convenience of learning from home. And they are amazing students! With teachers that understand how to teach well across any platform, and a student that engages well, it makes little to no difference at all. We are here for you if virtual/remote is your preference.
We do have limited availability for online lessons, click here for details.
Do you have a large family? We do occasionally offer private lessons for the whole family to learn together, drop us a line today about family lessons!
