Guitar! Who doesn’t want to play guitar? We love guitar at TIA and we offer both group classes and private lessons, though for whatever reason (and there are many good ones), a lot of students prefer private lessons over group classes.  We love offering group classes because we can give you a really great tuition discount, but we can only do that with four to six students in a class. But even our private lessons in guitar will run you an average of $20-25 less per month than at other studios in town.

TIA is your go to source for guitar lessons in the greater South Puget Sound, Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater area. With FOUR unique musician-educators on faculty as guitar teachers, each well trained and with different backgrounds and wheelhouses, we can meet your guitar needs here at TIA. At TIA we teach guitar in at least three different delivery methods: Private lessons, Group classes, and even virtual lessons via FaceTime, Zoom, Google Hangouts, or even Facebook Messenger. 

Private Guitar Lessons 

In private guitar lessons students are one-on-one with their teacher in a mentor model kind of situation. These lessons are fun, casual, interactive, and paced to the needs of the student. Most of our students will work out of a curriculum each week in lessons appropriate to where they are, whether beginner, intermediate and maybe even advanced. Private students will also work with their teachers on learning new repertoire regularly. We have a different theme every semester so students that choose to will have exposure to and an opportunity to learn a variety of repertoire and genre.

Most of our private students take part regularly in presentation opportunities for our students to perform music in front of their peers and the community every semester. We have fun events like Celebration of  Scales, Festival, and we are also involved in Arts Walk and other community music-making (at the Olympia Senior Center and area retirement homes).

All of our private students will also engage in serious music theory learning to include understanding chords, scales, and rhythmic interpretation in a way that is fun, accessible, and makes music even more fun and beautiful. 

The purpose behind private lessons in guitar at TIA is for you to have regular one-on-one personalized instruction, just for you, according to your needs. Private lessons in guitar are just $75-90 monthly for weekly half hour lessons depending on the faculty member ($90 for regular faculty, $ 75 for student and associate faculty). That is about $20-25 less than you will find at other studios! And it isn’t because you get less. In fact, you will get so much more.  But we are a non-profit and we want to make great music education available to all.
