This class is just like it sounds, a vocal ensemble class for beginners, it is all about becoming immersed in vocal music and singing! How much prior knowledge does your child need before beginning? None! It is Vocal Immersion, a vocal music class just for beginners! This class is a fun, exciting, and excellent opportunity for those who have never been a part of a vocal group before to learn to read music, sing, and to be a part of an ensemble environment! Rhythm and Melody (Tue/Thur) 3-4PM
Perfect for 2nd through 4th grade students!
Rhythm and Melody class is split between a period of time spent learning to read music and play the recorder, and learning to read, interpret, and play rhythms on a drum pad and bucket with drum sticks (basic drumming technique and skills). The up-front/instrument cost is fairly low: you simply need a drum pad, sticks, recorder, a music stand, and the book (s). And tuition is just $10 per week. Capitol City Collaborative
We will offer class during the school day for home-school students and classes after the public/private school day. Classes meet for one hour twice a week.
This jazz class is for students who have already completed Instrumental Immersion 1 & 2 or have met the objectives of the course (6th grade and up)*. Students must have basic speakability and a basic understanding of some of the fundamentals of music form. *Students who choose to will have the opportunity to begin learning the art of composition and the science of music theory as well. This is the next step, beyond the Collaborative: high school jazz. Student-musicians will learn to appreciate, understand, and celebrate the beauty displayed in the rich history of the American art forms of jazz and blues. Students will learn to analyze musical art (easily applied to all art) through the four-step scale: speakability, intellectual content, validity, and form/function.*Students who choose to will have the opportunity to begin learning the art of composition as well.
