Kim Krenick

Kim Krenik, Vocal Faculty

Vocal Music

Kim is a singer, songwriter, and recording artist who has taught private and group voice lessons in her home studio, music stores, and performing arts studios in California for over thirty years. A champion for songwriters, she takes great pleasure in helping writers who feel “stuck” blast through the block. She is honored to now be a part of the Tuned In Academy family!

Vocals

From the age of twelve, Kim received private and formal voice training, ranging from classical to pop to rock to jazz. She enjoyed performing lead roles in musical theater productions in High School and Community College, and toured as an alto voice with The Continental Singers across the United States and Great Britain.

After graduating high school, Kim was hired to teach voice and serve at The Music Complex, a recording studio in Millbrae, CA. She later became the studio’s Creative Director, and worked with a tween girl’s band to develop their vocal and performance skills. Other highlights of her career include co-leading a band with Youth with a Mission Summer of Service to the UK, and working at Disneyland Theme Park as a Dickens Caroler.

Songwriting

Since she was 13, Kim’s had a passion for songwriting. In her twenties she began getting professional feedback on her songs, and realized she needed to work harder on the craft.  She hired a songwriting mentor, Stephen Duncan (The Worship Coalition, former publisher at Centricity who helped discover Lauren Daigle). Stephen gave her tools to develop songwriting skills and learn about music publishing. She went on to take courses in writing music for film and television, collaborates with music professionals across the globe, and frequently attends conferences to stay fresh and informed on the music industry and music licensing.

Today she has songs that have been cut by other artists, collaborates with award-winning songwriters, and has songs in film, tv, and ads. One of her best placements was with a song by one of her project bands, Last August. Now You See Me, Now You Don’t is officially in the Marvel Universe! It features Kim singing lead and was selected to be used in a montage in the episode that introduced Dove Cameron’s role on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Check it out HERE !
